Abstract :Obesity is a major risk factor for chronic disease such as metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. In recent years, despite advances in understanding the molecular basis of obesity, drugs used against obesity have side effects and lack of physiological specificity. MicroRNAs miRNAs are short ~ 22 nt , noncoded and endogenous RNA molecules and binding to mRNA 3 ‘untranslated region of many genes regulated post-transcriptional. A miRNA has many target genes. In the future, miRNAs will help in early diagnosis of chronic diseases and will provide new therapeutic targets. The miRNA in obesity have been reported in the regulation of lipid metabolism. In this review, adipocyte biology and the relation between obesity, miRNA biogenesis, regulation, function and role in the regulation of lipid metabolism in obesity will be focused
Keywords : Obesity, hyperlipidemia, micro RNA
