Abstract :All neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU , or during the first days of life, undergo painful and stressful procedures. Pain experienced during the neonatal period may lead to negative outcomes, especially in preterm neonates. For this reason, it is important and necessary to determine and evaluate the pain conditions of newborns. All health professionals are responsible for examining, removing, or reducing pain. So, nurses need to have sufficient knowledge, ability and experience on the mechanisms, evaluation and control of pain
