Abstract :Objectives: It is important for nurses to have developed emotional intelligence levels to establish therapeutic relationships and meet the physiological and emotional needs of patients while giving care. This study was conducted to examine the effect of nurses’ emotional intelligence levels on their care behaviors. Study design: The sample of this descriptive study included 172 nurses working at in-patient clinics at a university hospital. The data of the study was collected using the Demographics Form, Caring Behaviors Scale – 24, and Reviewed Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale. Data were analyzed using frequencies, Student t Test, Pearson correlation analysis and Tukey’s tests. The data were evaluated at a 95% confidence interval. Results: The mean of the maintenance behaviors scale was 5.17+0.49 and the mean of the emotional intelligence scale was 146.3+14.67.
