Abstract :Obstetric triage means to diagnose obstetric pathologies at an early stage and carry out appropriate interventions. Therefore, it is important to know how to apply obstetric triage, and apply it systematically. Obstetric triage has many benefits such as using the institution’s opportunities most effectively, performing the obstetric assessments immediately, reducing the waiting time for patients, and accelerating the patient flow. Midwives play an important role in obstetric triage. Nevertheless, they should be given opportunity to actively participate in obstetric triage, and adequately use their knowledge acquired during their professional training. In this regard, obstetrician-gynecologists and midwives should work in cooperation to manage the obstetric triage unit. This compilation aims to emphasize the importance of obstetric triage, and explain the role of midwives in obstetric triage based on the literature
