Abstract :Gossypiboma, is a rare surgical complication due to sponge materials, etc. surronded by foreign body reaction. These materials can interfere with clinical conditions such as tumors and abscesses. Inflammatory reactions due to foreign bodies is a frequent condition. F18 - Fluorodeoxyglucose FDG PET-CT has been found in widespread use in oncological patients. FDG PET-CT imaging performed for metabolic characterization in patients with mediastinal suspected mass in terms of primary diagnosis of malignancy presents important contributions. However, some situations can lead to false positive results. In this case report, PET/CT imaging findings performed for retrocardiac mediastinal mass suspicious for malignancy were presented in a patient with a history of by-pass surgery 5 years ago and detection of foreign bodies Gossypiboma
