Abstract :Objective: To evaluate the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients who underwent absorbable canalicular plugs with dry eye.Materials and Methods: The medical records of 20 patients who underwent canalicular obstruction using absorbable canalicular plugs Oasis Soft Plug Extended Duration, Glendora, USA between March 2014 and December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Dry eye disease was assessed by The Ocular Surface Disease Index OSDI subjective questioning score. Absorbable canalicular plugs were inserted using a biomicroscope.Results: Forty- nine canaliculi 37 lower, 12 upper canaliculi in 37 eyes were occluded using absorbable canalicular plugs. The resumption of the dry eye symptoms after the canalicular obstruction was recorded and the canalicular plug insertion was repeated when necessary.
