Abstract :Richard W. Bulliet\\\'s Cotton, Climate, and Camels in Early Islamic Iran takes an interdisciplinary approach to the economic, environmental, and social transformations of early Islamic Iran. Contrary to conventional historiography, the author analyzes the economic impact of climate change, agricultural production, trade networks, and nomadic societies rather than political and religious frameworks. In this context, the book makes an important contribution to the literature on Islamic history and Iranian studies by revealing how environmental and economic factors shaped historical processes.
