Abstract :In the study, the socio-economic status of trawlers in Sinop Province and its districts were investigated. The data were collected through questionnaire by interviewing 63% of the boat owners and their crew of the 8 boats engaged with active trawling from 21 trawlers licensed boat according to the records of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Sinop Provincial Directorate and the Port Authority of Sinop. According to the information obtained in the research; fishermen, who are average 43 ± 6.49 years old, had received primary and secondary education. While some of the crew members were working seasonally by a share method, some of them did not have any social security. It was understood that the boat owners were satisfied with their professions and earnings. Not preferring of fishery by young, social security and pricing are important problems of the sector.
