Examination of Legal and Implementation Dimensions of Cultural Protection Areas in Urban Areas; Denizli City Example

Abstract

20th century recent developments, rapid urbanization, unplanned increase in the population, different types of pollution, forest fires, negative effects on the environment, and the increase in uncontrolled migration have led to the emergence of new conservation approaches on the areas to be protected in cities. The idea of an integrated and sustainable conservation approach has emerged as its basis, which has led it to produce local solutions rather than a universal phenomenon and to develop strategies for the region. Within the scope of this study, the legal dimensions of cultural protection areas in urban areas from past to present were examined, and the developments created by the cultural protection approaches in the Denizli Hisar settlement area in terms of practice, the problems and solution proposals were mentioned. In addition, the effects of current approaches in terms of urban planning and protection on urban identity have been examined, and new protection policies have been developed by looking at their qualitative and quantitative features.
