Abstract :ÖZET Amaç: Alerjik rinit, astım, ürtiker saman nezlesi gibi tip1 alerjik hastalığı olan kişilerde sosyal yaşam ve psikolojik işleyişin bozulduğu gösterilmiştir. Çalışmamızın amacı saman nezlesi olan psikiyatrik hastalığı olmayan hastaların kişilik özellikleri araştırmak ve bunları alerjik hastalığı ve psikiyatrik hastalığı olmayan sağlıklı kişilerle kıyaslamaktır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Saman nezlesi şikayeti olan 42 hasta ile yaş ve cinsiyet, eğitim düzeyi ve medeni durumu benzer özellik taşıyan 30 sağlıklı gönüllü hasta çalışmaya alınmıştır. Bireylerin alerjilerini değerlendirmek için deri prick test ve serum total immünglobülün E seviyesi, kişilik özelliklerini değerlendirmek için Minnesota çok yönlü kişilik envanter profili-2 testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Saman nezlesi şikayeti olan hastalarda hipokondria (P=0,012), depresyon (P=0,025) ve histeri (P=0,029) değerleri kontrol grubuna göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ölçüde yüksek çıkmıştır. Sonuç: Sonuçlar, saman nezlesi olan hastaların alerjik olmayan kişilere oranla psikopatolojiyi gösteren klinik alt ölçeklerden daha yüksek puanlar aldıklarını göstermektedir. The aim of this study was to investigate the personality traits of patients with hay fever in a nonpsychiatric population and to compare them with healthy individuals without allergic diseases and psychiatric disorders. Material and Methods: 42 patients suffering from hay fever and a control group of 30 healthy volunteers, matched for age, gender, educational level, and marital status was recruited. For assessing the allergic status of patients, skin prick tests and serum total IgE levels and for assessing the personality traits Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 test profile were used. Results: Hypochondria (P = 012), depression (P = 0.025) and hysteria (P =0, 029) values were significantly higher in patients suffering from hay fever compared to control group. Conclusion: The results suggested that patients with hay fever show poorer psychological functioning than non-allergic persons.
