Abstract :Bipolar Hall-effect sensors are commonly employed in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) to provide accurate speed and rotor position information. In PMSM control, the rotor position obtained from Bipolar Hall-effect sensors must be a continuous signal to ensure precise commutation and minimize the torque ripples. Among various approaches, filter-based methods are widely used thanks to their robustness against motor parameter variations. In this paper, an enhanced synchronous frequency tracking filter (SFTF)-based method is proposed to improve the motor performance, in which a synchronous reference frame-phase locked loop (SRF-PLL) with adaptive complex bandpass filter is used instead of arctangent function for speed and position estimation. The proposed method is evaluated under both steady-state and transient operating conditions and compared with standard SFTF-based method. The results show that the proposed method significantly improves position estimation accuracy, reduces speed fluctuations, and enhances overall system stability and efficiency, establishing it as a reliable and effective solution for advanced PMSM control applications.
