Abstract :Bu çalışmada Avrupa Birliği çerçevesinde yaklaşık son yirmi yılda giderek daha fazla kullanılan Avrupalılaşma kavramının hem söz konusu popülerleşmesinin sebepleri açıklanırken hem de içeriği açısından tanımlanmasında yaşanan değişim izah edilecektir Tanımlamaya ilişkin olarak 1980’lere kadar öncelikle aşağıdan yukarıya bir süreç olarak açıklanan kavram; bu tarihten sonra ve özellikle 1990’lardan itibaren yukarıdan aşağıya boyutuyla kullanılmıştır Kavramın popülerleşmesi de yine 1990’lı yıllardan itibaren AB’nin genişleme ve derinleşme süreçlerine bağlı ve eş zamanlı olarak ortaya çıkan bir dizi sebebe dayanmıştır Anahtar Kelimeler: Avrupalılaşma Avrupa Birliği Orta ve Doğu Avrupa Genişlemesi EUROPEANISATION AS A CHANGING AND POPULARISED CONCEPT ABSTACT In this study the concept Europeanisation that is referred more frequently in the last two decades within the context of the European Union will be explained in terms of both the reasons of its rising popularity and contextual change in its definition Regarding the definition while the concept was explained as a bottom up process until 1980s then and especially after 1990s it has been considered as a top down process Also popularisation of the concept again by the 1990s has depended upon some simultaneously emerged reasons related to the widening and deepening processes of the EU Keywords: Europeanisation European Union Central and East European EnlargementKeywords : Avrupalılaşma, Avrupa Birliği, Orta ve Doğu Avrupa Genişlemesi
