T we l v e (5. 5 %) cas e s w ho re q ui r e d e m e r g e n c y s u r g e r y d u e to the r uptu r e of h y d a tid c y s ts w e r e i n cl ud e d in this s tudy. The cas e s we r e r e v i e w e d w i th r e s p e c t to a g e , s e x, c u r r en t s ymp t oms, r a dio l ogic a l fi n di n g s , la b o r a t o r y re s u l ts a n d pos t - o p e r a t i ve r e s u l ts. R e s u l ts: T e n ( 83.3%) of t h e 12 p a t i e n ts we r e f e m al e s , a n d t wo ( 16.7%) w e r e m ales , a n d t h e ir m e a n a ge was 4 0.4 y ( 2 3– 69 ) . Al l p a ti e n ts w i th s po n t a ne ous p e r f o r a tio n s h a d h y d a tid l iv e r c y s ts. E l e v e n of the p a t i e n ts h a d a s i n g l e c y s t, a n d o n e h a d   mu l t i ple c y s t s . N i n e p a t i en ts w e r e di a g n osed w i th   u l t r as o n og r a p h y ( US ) ,   a n d   th r e e p a t i en ts w e r e di a g n os e d with c o mpu t e d t o mog r a phy ( CT).
