Abstract :The purpose of this research is to explore the impact of new Technologies on employment in Turkey, which emerged after post-Fordist restructuring process. The above mentioned impact would be analyzed at sectoral and firm level. The relationship between technological progress and employment rates has not been analyzed enough and attach importance thereto in economic theory, yet in this respect this relationship and the effect of new Technologies on employment in Turkish metalworking and textile industries is analyzed in this paper. There is no doubt that there are a number of factors which affect employment rates; thus, the changes in employment rates could not be explained through only technological change. However, this research on these two industries (three firms for each industry) proves that in both industries, the intensive usage of new Technologies in the production process causes a reduction in employment
