Abstract :This study presents the landscape design process of the “100th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic Park,” developed with a socio-ecological and commemorative vision. This study contributes to the growing body of research on sustainable urban landscapes by demonstrating how commemorative green spaces can integrate national identity, biodiversity, and urban resilience into a cohesive design. The project offers a model for integrating symbolic meaning and ecological function into public park planning, addressing contemporary challenges such as climate adaptation, cultural representation, and social well-being. The park features a central memorial square inspired by the Turkish flag, an amphitheater, a traditional Japanese garden, a promenade, adventure and playground areas, a boathouse, and waterfront cafes. Native and seasonal vegetation were utilized to enhance biodiversity and visual richness, while topographic manipulations were employed to discreetly integrate utilities such as restrooms and prayer spaces within the terrain. In celebration of the Republic’s centenary, the planting design includes exactly 100 different plant species, emphasizing both symbolic meaning and ecological diversity. The Japanese garden emphasizes cross-cultural respect and symbolizes peace and openness. Universal design standards and climate-resilient green and blue infrastructure were core planning principles. Technical drawings were created in AutoCAD, conceptual illustrations were produced in Adobe Photoshop, and all renderings were visualized using Lumion. Findings indicate that integrating symbolic and ecological frameworks enhances both the experiential and commemorative quality of urban parks.
