Examining the Measurement Invariance of Nurses' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients' Rights Scale in Nursing Students

Abstract :Objective: This study evaluated the measurement invariance of the Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale in nursing students. Methods: It was a methodological study. The measurement invariance of the Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale was evaluated using two different data sets obtained from nurses (n = 450) and nursing students (n = 502). The data was collected using the Demographic Characteristics Form and Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights Scale. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine measurement invariance, and structural, weak, and strong invariance models were tested. Results: It was determined that the Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale was a valid measurement tool in student and nurse groups. Structural, weak, and strong invariance were achieved between the groups. The factor loadings and threshold values of the Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale were equivalent in the student and nurse groups. Conclusion: This study confirmed that the Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale retains measurement invariance in nursing students. The Nurses\\\' Ethical Behaviours for Protecting Patients\\\' Rights scale has measurement invariance/equivalence in nurse and student nurse groups.
