Abstract :The aim of this study is; to examine the city and capitalism from the perspective of Max Weber. A literature review will be carried out in this direction. Weber, who affected many areas of the social sciences, is one of the leading authors. He also pioneered studies on the city and capitalism, in the specific case of this study. In his urban theory, he pointed out what was and should have been, while at the same time revealing the history of the western city in detail. In this context, he also addressed the relations of capitalism to the city. According to Weber, capitalism can exist on moral foundations. In the scope of the study, the subject will be examined with subheaders of Weber's period and intellectual field, Weber's historical urban theory, urban community, capitalism and worldly asceticism, why didn't the urban community emerge in other continents, “stahlhartes gehäuse” or iron cage and critiques.
