Investigation of Landslide-Induced Collapse Mechanism and Landslide Prevention Measures at The Lower Kaleköy Dam

Abstract :Landslide can be explained as the rapid or slow movement of the material forming the slopes in the direction of the slope with the effect of gravity. Landslides are included in natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, which are very closely related to Turkey. This shows that landslide is a disaster rather than a mass movement. As in other natural disasters, preventive measures can be taken and damage rates can be reduced for the post-disaster situation by conducting studies before the disaster occurs in landslides. Landslides, like earthquakes and floods, are natural disasters that are closely related to Turkey. In this study, a landslide occurring at the Aşağı Kaleköy Dam in Bingöl province is analyzed and the improvement techniques that can be put forward to prevent this landslide are investigated. With the use of soil survey data obtained from the 9th Regional Directorate of the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs of Elazığ, short and long term analyses were carried out on the sections examined. Feedbacks were provided with the use of renewal planes determined according to incometer field observations and data, and the parameters of long-term permanent soils representing slip surfaces were determined. The coefficients of safety of the improved models for dynamic and static conditions were examined by the limit equilibrium technique, and the design values of the structural elements were also investigated by examining the deformations in the slopes.
