Abstract :This study was conducted to determine the effects of different additives on nutrient composition, digestibility, and in vitro gas production parameters of sorghum silages during the aerobic stability period. Sorghum silages were ensiled for 45 days and then exposed to aerobic conditions for 7 days. Three treatment groups were established: control, Lactobacillus buchneri (LAB), and propionic acid (PA). Silage samples were analyzed for chemical composition, aerobic stability, in vitro gas production, organic matter digestibility (OMD), metabolizable energy (ME), net energy lactation (NEL), rumen pH, protozoa counts, and gas emissions (CH₄, CO₂, NH₃, and H₂S). The results indicated that PA supplementation effectively prevented aerobic spoilage, reduced nutrient losses, and improved OMD, ME, and NEL values compared to other groups (P<0.01). LAB supplementation provided partial improvements but was less effective than PA. Gas production increased with the aerobic stability period, with the highest methane production observed in the PA group and the lowest in the LAB group. The results obtained demonstrate that propionic acid addition is an effectively additive method for the preservation of aerobic stability and reduction of nutrient losses in sorghum silage. Keywords : Sorgum silajı, aerobik stabilite, Lactobacillus buchneri, propiyonik asit, in vitro gaz üretimi
