Abstract :The need to energy is rapidly increasing due to the meteoric increase of the population as well as economic and social life. However, it is no longer possible to move forward with non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. The depleting characteristics of fossil fuels have resulted the increase on the demand for clean, sustainable and renewable sources. In this way, with the utilization of green energy sources, it would not only be possible to meet the further growing global demand to energy, but also alleviations on the global warming may be obtained. Double-flash geothermal power plants can accordingly be taken into account as an alternative approach to meet today’s energy demand. In geothermal power plants, the electrical power is obtained by the high enthalpy content of the hot water. Such power plants provide environmentally friendly and sustainable energy production by utilizing reserves found in various parts of the World. In this study, a 40 MW double-flash geothermal power plant was specially designed with the numerical calculations using the Engineering Equation Solver (EES) program. Initially, the design of the geothermal power plant was determined using various methods. Plus, the detailed analyses on the efficiency, power computations and the power plant was carried out. Eventually, depending on the necessary computations, it was concluded that the designed geothermal power plant with the rated power of 40 MW may meet the needs of electricity for the half of a medium sized city of Türkiye having a population of 100,000.
