Abstract :This study evaluated the efficacy of poppy oil in the treatment of bovine dermatophytosis in comparison with salicylic pomade. A total of 21 animals, divided into three groups of seven each, were used in the study. Skin scrapings were collected for mycological examination from Holstein cattle with clinical fungal infections on a farm. Subsequently, poppy oil was applied topically to one group, while salicylic pomade was applied to another group for 14 days. The control group did not receive any treatment other than skin scraping. After recording the macroscopic findings for all groups, skin biopsies were collected from the lesion areas on the 1st, 7th, and 14th days for histopathological and immunohistochemical examination. The presence of the causative agent in the lesioned tissues was demonstrated using Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) methods. The results showed that poppy oil was effective in treating bovine dermatophytosis, similar to the salicylic pomade group. It was concluded that poppy oil could serve as an alternative therapy in veterinary medicine. Keywords : Haşhaş yağı, inek, mikotik dermatitis, karşılaştırmalı patoloji, salisilik pomad
