Abstract :In this study, responses of seedling growth of three flax cultivars to in vitro competition and stress were investigated.The findings showed that encouraged competition of seedlings by decreasing the distances among seeds sown per Magenta vessel elevated chlorophyll contents (chl. a, b and total chl.), seedling and root lengths significantly up to a treshold from where stress initiated and significant decreases in all parameters were observed. It is thought that competition among in vitro-grown seedlings which can be source of explants may be used to increase the success of tissue culture studies.
