Abstract :Kestane (Castanea sativa) kışın yaprağını döken geniş yapraklı ağaç türlerinden biridir. Türkiye’de yaygın olarak Karadeniz sahil kuşağı boyunca yayılış gösterir. Ancak dar alanlı olarak son derece seyrek ve dağınık bir şekilde Batı ve îç Batı Anadolu bölümlerinde de bulunur. İnceleme alanı da bu duruma örnek teşkil eden yerlerden birini oluşturur. Buna göre Afyon yerleşim merkezinin güneybatısında Tezekli tepe (1523 m) ve Ağlayan tepenin (1449 m) kuzey yamaçlarında Alp dere ve Erkmen dere vadileri boyunca kestanenin varlığı tespit edilmiştir.
