The Potency of Beligo Seeds (Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn.) as Antihyperlipidemic in L-NAME-induced Hyperlipidemic Rats

Abstract :Beligo or Bligo is the name of Benincasa hispida insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Thunb.); Cogn. in Indonesian, is empirically used in the treatment of cholesterol and hypertension. The part of the plant used is the seed. This have a look at aimed to determine the antihyperlipidemic activity of beligo seeds in L-NAME-induced hyperlipidemic rats. Male albino rats insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(n= 25); were divided into 5 groups: Sod. CMC 1%, plant extract insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, 300 mg/kg body weight);, and Simvastatin were induced by L-NAME 40 mg/kg BW for 4 weeks. Measurement of lipid profile levels consisting of TC, HDL, LDL, TG, and VLDL, using a human analyzer insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Thermo Scientific Indico®);. L-NAME was shown to significantly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0.05); improve lipid profile levels. The results showed that beligo seed ethanol extract insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(BSEE); at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW can reduce significantly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0,05); levels of TC, TG, and LDL and can increase significantly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0,05); HDL levels. While a dose of 100 mg/kg BW can only reduce significantly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0,05); TC and TG levels and only a dose of 300 mg/kg BW can reduce VLDL significantly insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p<0,05);.
