Abstract :Eğitimin bireysel ve toplumsal yaşamdaki önemi herkesin tartışmasız kabul ettiği bir gerçektir. Tartışılan şey eğitimin hangi amaçlara hizmet edeceğidir. Fakat bundan önce yanıtlanması gereken soru insan- eğitiminin ne olduğudur. Bu sorunun yanıtına göre, eğitimin sırf mesleki, dinsel veya ideolojik amaçlar taşması gerekip gerekmediği konusunda bir karara varabiliriz. Eğitimin neliği ve amacına yönelik bu tartışmada, Platon'un bir insanlaşma süreci olarak gördüğü eğitime ilişkin görüşlerinin bizler için bir hareket noktası olabileceği inancındayım.
