Preparation of CoFe2O4 Nanostructures Modified with ZnS Quantum Dots
Abstract
Nanotechnology has become a popular concept in the last century. It has even begun to be used in many areas of daily life in applications that will make human life easier. For this reason, scientists have focused on nanotechnology. The fields of nanochemistry and nanomaterials have been developed in basic sciences and scientific and technological developments have accelerated in these fields. Nanoparticles have become fundamental tools in the field of material development and production thanks to their highly functional structures. Magnetic particles have become attractive for biomedical, electronics, energy storage, catalyst and sensor studies thanks to their magnetic properties. However, especially the lack of optical properties of metal oxide magnetic particles (such as surface plasmon resonance, conductivity and luminescence emmision) are among the important shortcomings of such particles. These deficiencies are eliminated by making composites or functionalizing them with different materials. In this study, magnetic particles (CoFe2O4) were combined with fluorescent ZnS quantum dots and made ready for use in photocatalyst or sensor applications.
