3 + 1 Stakeholder Views on Vocational Internship Training Model

Abstract :This research was conducted to uncover the opinions of students and faculty members in programs implementing the 3+1 education model for the first time at Sivas Cumhuriyet University in the 2023–2024 academic year, as well as the businesses with which the agreements have been made, regarding the model. The study population consists of students enrolled in programs implementing the 3+1 education model at Sivas Cumhuriyet University in the 2023–2024 academic year, academics participating in this program, and relevant businesses. The study employed a phenomenological design, a qualitative research method. Participants were selected using criterion sampling, a purposive sampling method. For this study, 19 students, 10 academics, and 10 businesses were contacted. Face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants. The interviews revealed the opinions of students, academics, and business managers regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the 3+1 vocational internship education model. The data obtained within the scope of the study were analyzed using MAXQDA Pro2020 (20.4.0). The findings were grouped under three themes: evaluations from faculty advisors, student interns, and business managers. When all three findings were analyzed together, there were common views that the educational model increased students\\\' self-confidence, provided students with experience, was a reason for choosing the university, and that the educational programs were incompatible.
