Abstract :Abstract This study aimed to evaluate back awareness and investigate the correlation between back awareness and quality of life in children with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). The study collected data from 40 children diagnosed with AIS and 40 healthy peers. Back awareness was assessed using the Fremantle Back Awareness Questionnaire (FreBAQ), and quality of life was evaluated using the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS-22) form. Results showed that back awareness was significantly lower in the AIS group compared to healthy children, and this awareness was associated with quality of life. Significant differences were found in the SRS-22 total score and especially in the “mental health” and “self-image” sub-dimensions compared to the healthy group (p<0.05). A moderate negative correlation was identified between Cobb angle and quality of life (p<0.05). The findings emphasize that decreased back awareness in children with AIS may negatively affect the quality of life and the importance of personalized treatment approaches in these individuals. Keywords : Awareness, Quality of Life, Scoliosis
