Abstract :The science of tabaqāt has been of great importance among the hadīth sciences because it has been used by the muhaddis in matters such as determining the dates of birth and death of the narrators and determining the relationship between them. This situation paved the way for the emergence of strata works by the third century of the hijrī and the first works to appear were Ibn Sa‘d and Khalīfa b. Khayyāt has had books. In this context, the fact that both authors lived in the same century and in the same town attracted attention, and the fact that the two books appeared at the same time and in the same region aroused curiosity and brought to mind the question of what kind of difference there was. This study tried to reveal the differ-ences and similarities between the two books by making comparisons. In order to give healthier results of the comparison, it was applied in the layers of Sahāba, Tābiīn and Taba-i Tābiīn. In this study, which includes information about both authors and books, induction and analysis method was used. This work was carried out by the Khalīfa b. Khayyāt\\\'s book was a specialization in Ibn Sa‘d\\\'s book.
