Abstract :Hastane kökenli pnömoni HKP ; hastaneye herhangi bir nedenle yatıştan en az 48 saat sonra yada taburcu olduktan sonraki ilk 48 saatte gelişen pnömoni olarak tanımlanır 1-3 . HKP’nin önemli bir alt grubu olan ventilatörle ilişkili pnömoni VİP ise; daha öncesinde pnömoni tanısı olmayan, entübasyon veya invaziv mekanik ventilasyondan 48 saat sonra gelişen yada ekstubasyon veya invaziv mekanik ventilatörden ayırma işlemini takiben 48 saat içinde gelişen pnömonidir 4 .
