Abstract :Background: The study aimed to examine the effects of circadian rhythm and heart rate on shooting performance in professional traditional archers. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted using indoor shooting (18 meters) on 20 adult athletes who had been practicing traditional archery with a license for at least four years. Data on gender, athlete age, traininga age, bow draw weight, arrow length, arrow weight, heart rate, ambient temperature, humidity, sleep score (Epworth Sleepiness Scale), and shooting success (distance) were examined. The athletes trained three times at 9:00, 13:00 and 17:00, and comparisons were made by taking the mean. Results: It was found that the mean success rate of the 17:00 training (11.67±3.82) was significantly better than the 13:00 (13.43±3.63) and 09:00 (13.03±3.57) trainings (p<0.001). The mean heart rate of the 17:00 training (100.32±11.28) was significantly lower than the 09:00 (115.50±8.49) and 13:00 (113.05±11.16) trainings (p<0.001). In addition, according to the ROC analysis, the probability of success for shots under 103.50 bpm was 84.6% (95% confidence interval: 81.4-87.9). A high positive correlation (r=0.667) was found between heart rate and distance variables (p<0.001). Conclusions: Traditional archers’ preference of evening-morning-noon training hours and keeping their heart rate below 103.50 bpm in indoor shooting may increase their shooting performance (possibility of successful shooting) under certain conditions (temperature, humidity, sleepiness, etc.).Keywords : Sirkadiyen ritim, Kalp atım hızı, Geleneksel okçuluk, Performans, Antrenman
