Abstract :Competitive advantage is a very popular concept and one of the most important tools for faster integration of the national economy in the global market, which is projected to result in increased exports, higher growth, improved living standards, and long-term prosperity. For small, open economies like the Republic of North Macedonia, this global integration is especially crucial for domestic enterprises to be able to sell and compete on the global market. The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitive position of the Macedonian economy in the period 1996-2019 in order to identify weaknesses and potential bottlenecks that would result in recommendations for policymakers.
