Abstract :There are different ways as to how identity is constructed in the world today. The term is a social and historical concept that comes as a result of communication with people around and within our surrounding. Globalization has aided the way we interact and react to things around us. Five different Instagram accounts were analyzed during this research in order to see if people constructed their identity based on a global or cultural norm. Therefore the goal throughout this paper is to explore the ways identity is being constructed in today’s global world through the use of Instagram and how it changes in different cultural contexts.
