Mediating Role of the Laissez-faire Leadership Practices between Transformational Leadership and Job Satisfaction

Abstract :Purpose: This research aims to determine the mediating role of the laissez-faire leadership practices between the perceptions of transformational leadership practices and job satisfaction of the school administrators and teachers. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research is a quantitative study. The participants of the research were composed of 200 administrators and teachers. The purposive sampling method has been used. This research is a study in the survey model. The data were collected through the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. The estimating is made with the simple linear regression analysis, Spearman analysis, mediating (Bootstrap) test, and Sobel test. Findings: It was found a statistically meaningful relationship between leadership practices and job satisfaction perceptions. Also, it could state that the laissez-faire leadership practices had a mediating role between transformational leadership and job satisfaction. Highlights: The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) was developed by Avolio and Bass and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) was developed by Weiss, Dawis, England, and Lofquist. A total of 200 data collection tools were evaluated. Cronbach Alpha values are used for the reliability. The LISREL program is used for confirmatory factor analysis.
