Abstract :Archival science is a field that involves activities such as the collection, preservation, classification, and safeguarding of documents. This scientific field has evolved throughout history as a means for states and societies to transmit information to future generations. Archives initially emerged for state and religious purposes and gradually developed into an independent scientific discipline. This article covers the formation and development of archival science worldwide, analyzing how the field has evolved up to the present, alongside the methods and technologies applied during different periods. Electronic archives and digitization have brought about the greatest revolutions in the development of archival science today.
