Abstract :In this study, WCCo-SiC based coatings were produced on the surface of AISI 1050 steel using high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying technique. Ni-based powder was used to connect to together WCCo and SiC powders. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the microstructures of WCCo-SiC based coatings. The surface hardness of substrate and coating were measured using a Vickers hardness tester. The XRD results showed that the WCCo-SiC coatings were mainly composed of WC, W 2 C, SiC, Cr 5 B 3 , γ-Ni and Co phases. It was reported that the microstructure and microhardness of coatings generally changed depending on the amount of SiC and WCCo.Keywords :
