Bringing Museum Function to Turkish-Islamic Period Educational Buildings and Educational Function of Museums: 13th Century Konya Examples

Abstract :Abstract As in all areas of life, the destruction caused by the flow of time in the historical buildings built in the past is of course a normal situation. Protecting historical buildings has become very difficult due to natural disasters as well as the human factor. Ensuring that historical structures survive by minimizing these destructive effects is an important protection problem. For this purpose, the re-functioning method, which is one of the protection methods, has an important place. In particular, it is possible for the structure, which has been re- functioned, to bear the traces and spirit of the past, with the appropriate arrangements and applications. In this study, three educational structures belonging to the 13th century, which has been brought to the museum function in Konya, have been handled in terms of space setting in order to protect and survive the historical texture. In addition, due to the fact that the historical artifacts discussed are educational structures, the education function, which is an 1 Doktora Öğrencisi, Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi, Sanat Tarihi Bölümü important function of museums today, has been emphasized. For this purpose, some evaluations have been made about how various educational activities can be applied on how the works exhibited are created.
