Phenomenology of Delusions among Schizophrenics in Istanbul Anatolian Region

Abstract :This study aimed to analyze the delusions of schizophrenic patients in terms of their contents in the Istanbul Anatolian Region. Contents of 397 delusions found in 228 schizophrenic patients were classified by using the classification system of Huber and Gross. Persecution and reference were the most frequently mentioned contents of delusion in men and in women, followed by grandiosity and religion in men and guilt/sin and erotomania in women. None of the women nor any of the men displayed of erotomanic or homosexual delusions. There was a decline in hypochondriac, poisoning and nobility delusions was seen. Physical/mental injury and being followed were the more common kinds of persecution in persecutory delusions. Married women showed a tendency to have percutory delusions about their husbands relatives. Types of non-specific people, neighbors, friends, family members and as a recent type cameras were persecutors. Delusions of hypochondria (5.7%), poisoning (2.6%) and nobility (3.9%) were encountered at lower levels than other types in recent study and rates of previous studies. As a result of our study, it was determined that gender, education level, cultural and sociopolitical structures, geography and globalization affect the content of delusion, as well as technological innovations, as shown in previous studies.Keywords : fenomenoloji, sanrı, şizofreni
