Abstract :In this study, well-balanced nutrition levels of consumers were determined by considering the monthly household food consumption. According to socio-demographic and economic characteristics of households, differences were determined. These results were reached by using primary data along with 302 household surveys conducted in the urban area of Adana province. Average calorie intake of household was estimated as 3059 cal/day and this was above average. Calories coming from animal products constituted 16% of total calorie intake, whereas plant products constituted remaining 84%. Variables affecting calorie intake of households were found by using logit analyses and satiety of foods was investigated to have negative effect, whereas expenditure, education of mother, ratio of males in the family were found to have positive effects.
