Abstract :Tomor Mountain plays a central role in the religious and cultural life of southern Albania, serving as a focal point for both historical and contemporary beliefs and rituals. The mountain’s associated beliefs preserve elements of the pre-Islamic sacred mountain tradition, while through Bektashism, they have been adapted into a syncretic structure within an Islamic framework. The cult of Baba Tomor functions not only as a site of religious worship but also as a cultural heritage that fosters intergenerational connections and social solidarity among different communities. Annual pilgrimage rituals are performed with the intent of seeking health, prosperity, and protection, demonstrating the continuity of popular beliefs. Although these rituals are predominantly organized within the Bektashi framework, their origins predate Islam, reflecting the enduring sanctity attributed to the mountain. Tomor Mountain also serves as a shared space for participants from diverse faith backgrounds, symbolizing religious tolerance and social cohesion. This study highlights the mountain’s significance as a living cultural and spiritual heritage and its central role in the collective memory of the local population.
