Abstract :Bu makalede stok hareketinin ve dolayısı ile envanter kontrol sistemlerinin malzeme yönetimi içindeki önemi vurgulanmaktadır. Bu konuda çeşitli tanımlar getirilmekte ve stok hareketlerinin tümünü oluşturan envanter sistemin ana öğeleri tanıtılmaktadır. Ayrıca envanter kontrolü problemine yönelik bütünleşik yaklaşımların ve analitik modellerin özü, önemi ve yetersizliği tartışıl-maktadır. Makale, uygulama ve kuram arasındaki boşluğu doldurmağa yönelik önerilerle son bulmaktadır.
