Abstract :There is a worldwide rise in tuberculosis (TB) cases with drug resistant strains being a threat to disease control with the current measures. In recent years novel antituberculosis drug candidates and vaccines have entered clinical trials. Besides their activity against multi drug and extensively drug resistant strains they also target to reduce the treatment period and dosing. In this article recent developments in tuberculosis diagnostics, new anti tuberculosis drugs and vaccines for tuberculosis have been summarized.
