Abstract :Funguslar ökaryotlar içerisinde birçok farklı grubu oluştururlar. Çoğu fungus mitokondri içerir ve oksidatif fosforilasyon yapabilir. Diğer taraftan herbivor memelilerin sindirim sistemindeki Neocallimastigomycota fungusları mitokondri yerine hidrojenozom olarak bilinen bir organel bulundururlar. Anaerobik çevreye uyumun anahtarı olma özelliğine sahip bu organel eşsizdir. Bu derlemede, bu önemli organellerin işlevi, yapısı, biyokimyası, genetik özellikleri ve kalıtımı hakkında bilinenleri kısaca özetlemek istiyoruz.
