Abstract :Regional economic integration, which could take in different forms ranging from a free trade agreement to an economic and monetary union, could provide a number of opportunities to a member country and, therefore, there has been an increasing interest in the regional economic integration in the last half century among the developed and the developing countries. The aim of this paper is to critically review and evaluate the applied literature on the regional integration in the framework of the gravity model.
