Abstract :The present study aims to investigate the relationship between academics’ personality traits and accounting students’ academic motivation and academic self-efficacy within the framework of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Five-factor personality traits were considered as independent variables, while academic self-efficacy is the dependent variable, academic motivation is the moderator variable. The study population consists of accounting students studying at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University in Turkey. The data were collected using five-factor personality traits and academic self-efficacy and academic motivations scales and analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and SmartPLS 4. The findings suggest that among different personality traits, while openness affects academic motivation significantly and positively, emotional instability affects academic motivation significantly and negatively. As a result, academic motivation affects academic self-efficacy significantly and positively.
