Abstract :This study aims to evaluate the hydrogeochemical properties and water quality of the Göksu River, located in the Eastern Mediterranean Region of Turkey, on a seasonal basis. Within the scope of the research, water samples were collected from 17 different stations during the winter and summer seasons and analyzed. The study examined the physical and chemical properties of the water (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, ion concentrations, etc.) and compared the obtained data with national (TSE 266) and international (WHO) standards. The results revealed that the water quality of the Göksu River shows significant seasonal changes. While increases in temperature, conductivity, and dissolved solids were observed in the summer months, high levels of nutrients such as phosphorus and ammonium were detected in the winter months. Piper and Gibbs diagrams showed that the chemical composition of the water was influenced mainly by rock dissolution and evaporation processes. Fertilizer and pesticide use from agricultural activities and domestic waste from settlements were identified as the main factors negatively affecting water quality. The study emphasizes the need to control agricultural activities, reduce fertilizer and pesticide use, raise awareness among the local population, and develop water management policies to protect the water quality of the Göksu River and ensure its sustainable management. The findings obtained are an important reference for the protection and sustainable use of water resources in the Mediterranean basin.Keywords : Göksu Irmağı, Su kalitesi, Hidrojeokimya
