Abstract :The main purpose of this study is to examine the curriculum development competency perceptions of teachers working with gifted students. The study was conducted using a quantitative research design with a correlational approach. The participants included 286 teachers working in Science and Art Centers (BILSEM) across Turkey. Data were collected using the “Perception Scale of Curriculum Competency for Teachers Working with Gifted Students,” developed by Göksu and Gelişli (2022).In the data analysis, descriptive statistics (arithmetic mean) were used to determine the competency levels of teachers, while Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were employed to examine the differences in perceptions based on variables such as gender, field of specialization, years of professional experience, faculty of graduation, and years of service at BILSEM.The findings showed that the curriculum development competency perceptions of teachers were generally high (𝑋ˉ=4.13Xˉ =4.13). No statistically significant differences were observed based on gender, field of specialization, or faculty of graduation. However, years of service at BILSEM were found to have a significant effect on competency perceptions (𝑝<0.05p<0.05), highlighting the importance of experience in specialized institutions. The study concludes that while teachers’ perceptions of curriculum development competencies are high, variables such as gender and professional background do not significantly impact these perceptions. Recommendations include organizing professional development programs, promoting mentorship among teachers, incorporating technological innovations, and encouraging participation in international exchange programs to further enhance curriculum development competencies.
