Abstract :ABSTRACT Purpose: The aim of our study is to reveal the chronic effects of Valsalva maneuver insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(VM);, whose acute effects on the eye are well known. Material Method: A total of 50 eyes from 25 patients and 60 eyes from 30 age-matched and gender-matched healthy individuals were included in this cross-sectional study. A complete ophthalmic examination was performed for all patients. The central corneal thickness, iridocorneal angle insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ICA); and anterior chamber depth were performed with the corneal topography. The spectral-domain optical coherence tomography was used to evaluate choroidal thickness insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(CT); and retinal nerve fiber thickness. Results: There were 25 patient study group and 60 patient control group. Intraocular pressures were 18.31 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 2.64); in the study group and 15.63 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 2.14); in the control group, and this difference was statistically significant. insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p <0.001); The ICA was found to be 40.30 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 5.84); in the study group and 45.15 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 5.51); in the control group, and this difference was statistically significant. insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p = 0.001); The subfoveal CT was determined as 273.71 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 39.35); in the study group and 256.71 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(std 20.48); in the control group, and this difference was statistically significant. insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p = 0.005); There was a mild positive correlation between duration and central CT. insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(p: 0.039, r: -0.288); Conclusion: This study is one of the first studies investigating the permanent effects of frequent repetitions of the VM.
