The Mediating Role of Internal Organizational Communication in the Effect of Organizational Ethical Climate on Perceived Organizational Performance

Abstract :The aim of the study is to investigate the mediating role of intra-organizational communication in the effect of perceived organizational performance on organizational ethical climate. A survey technique was used in the research, reaching 431 employees in the energy sector through a convenience sampling method. SPSS 24.0, AMOS, t-test, and Pearson correlation test were utilized in the analysis of the obtained data. According to the analysis results, it has been determined that the organizational ethical climate affects intra-organizational communication, and intra-organizational communication, in turn, affects perceived organizational performance. It is understood that the organizational ethical climate influences perceived organizational performance, and that intra-organizational communication plays a mediating role in this relationship. Among the subdimensions of the organizational ethical climate, the climate related to behaviors positively and significantly affects communication with top management, which is one of the subdimensions of intra-organizational communication. Communication with top management has a positive and significant impact on organizational performance among the subdimensions of intra-organizational communication. It has also been determined that communication with upper management affects communication with superiors and communication in the work environment. In line with these results, it can be ensured that organizational performance is increased by building an ethical climate in accordance with international standards through institutional efforts, and by establishing organizational communication in a transparent, fast, and realistic manner.
