Abstract :Flaxseed is cultivated worldwide for its fiber, oil, medicinal uses, and nutritional value. It contains relatively high levels of ash (4%), oil (30–40%), protein (20–30%), and dietary fiber (≈20%). Despite its high oil content, growing interest in flaxseed in recent years has been largely attributed to its potential health benefits, including the reduction of certain disease risks. Owing to its excellent nutritional composition, flaxseed has become an attractive component of health-promoting diets. The present study aimed to determine the concentrations of various nutrient elements in different flaxseed cultivars. A total of sixteen flaxseed cultivars were evaluated for the concentrations of nine mineral nutrients: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), and copper (Cu). The concentrations of these elements ranged from 12.5–29.8 mg N kg-1, 1.29–3.58 mg P kg-1, 14.1–17.3 mg K kg-1, 3.2–13.3 mg Ca kg-1, 2.5–5.1 mg Mg kg-1, 125.6–625.2 mg Fe kg-1, 45.4–76.0 mg Zn kg-1, 32.7–81.7 mg Mn kg-1, and 14.6–22.5 mg Cu kg-1, respectively. Overall, the findings indicated that the cultivar Kaolin exhibited the highest nutrient element concentrations, whereas LS Koral had the lowest values among the genotypes tested.
